USSR, PRC Scientists in Joint Study of UFOs (FBIS Report, May 1990)
This unclassified FBIS document (serial LD2205081590) transcribes a Moscow Domestic Service broadcast dated 21 May 1990 reporting that scientists from the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Far East had begun a joint study of UFOs. According to the report, the first meeting of ufologists from the two countries concluded in the small Maritime coastal town of Dalnegorsk, where the specialists mapped out a program to investigate already-known incidents and agreed to directly exchange video and photographic materials on new anomalous phenomena. The transcript states Dalnegorsk was chosen because visual observations of UFOs had noticeably increased there, with no fewer than 10 UFOs recorded over the preceding four years. Specialists linked this heightened activity to the variety and wealth of useful minerals in Maritime Kray, noting that similar incidents had occurred in mountainous regions of China with comparable climatic and landscape conditions. The message was transmitted from FBIS London to numerous U.S. military and intelligence recipients and was declassified by the CIA in June 1994.
